chris & kathy's wedding
A few silly photo booth pics from our friends Chris and Kathy's wedding this past weekend. It took place at a lovely art museum and with all of her creative handmade touches (um, check out that photo booth backdrop), their wedding was seriously the cutest ever. Congrats to the happy couple!

ombre engagement party
Wow, what a stunning little engagement party full of handmade details and gorgeous colors! Planned and styled by Finch and Thistle Event Design, they chose the perfect combination of accent colors: coral, turquoise, gold (and a little hot pink!). I don't know about you but my jaw dropped when I saw that beautiful ombre cake. Bravo.

Saw this on Facebook last week and just had to re-share...doesn't it just make your heart melt? So sweet.

weekend snapshots
Drove down to Houston this past weekend for a good friend's wedding (Kyle was the best man)...there were so many parts that made our time there so fantastic. Well besides what seemed like hundreds of intersecting highways and the constant construction going on (even close to midnight!)...but we very much enjoyed hanging out with the bride and groom's wonderful families, eating coconut pie and bacon and peanut butter burgers (yes you read that right), exploring downtown, seeing old high school friends and meeting the cutest baby with the cutest cowlick ever for the first time. The groom's nintendo cake and the hipster DJ helped too.
On our way back home, we met up with my sister for some tasty brunch and I finally got to see her new apartment (well, new from last December)...I'm a bad sister. See ya later Houston!

paper flowers

I love the idea of having a papered flower bouquet for a wedding...the best part being you can keep them long after the wedding is over. These are made from tissue paper, crepe paper and card stock!

ring envy

Simple gold rings with such amazing textures by the talented Satomi Kawakita. I am seriously in love with all of them. She also does engagement/wedding pieces. See more rings here.

reception at lamberts
Kyle and I are self-proclaimed "foodies" so we wanted to have the reception at a place that served great food. We chose Lamberts BBQ because of their fabulous brunch menu - which we ended up serving. In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, we decided to serve frozen bananas (as a tribute to Arrested Development) from a local stand here in Austin...as well as the restaurant's own fried cherry pies and cupcakes. I think both the Asians and non-Asians appreciated that everything was served buffet style...as we certainly had more than enough food to go around!
When it came time for speeches, all we knew was that my Dad was going to give a quick toast...what we didn't know was that we would be overcome with gratitude by all the family and friends who also went up to say a few words and offer their congratulations. But the highlight of the entire reception was undoubtedly when Kyle's second cousin, Rayann (age 6), went up on stage to proclaim her love for him...followed by her brother Tyler (age 12) who then confessed that he was jealous of Kyle because I was so "hot"! With everyone bursting out in laughter, it was a perfect end to a perfect day :)

our ceremony
Being an overly shy person, I knew from the early wedding-planning stages that I didn't want a big wedding. So we decided to have it at Kyle's parents' house and only invite our closest friends and family (but have the reception afterwards for the rest of our loved ones of course!). We just couldn't resist the idea of getting married in such a cozy home...and Kyle's mom did an amazing job planning and setting everything up. From the beautiful flowers to the yummy breakfast muffins and donuts...it was all so lovely.
Kyle's best friend, Patrick, officiated the ceremony for us - which added a nice personal touch. It was short and sweet...just enough time for us to say our vows (boy, did I get teary-eyed), exchange rings and have our first kiss as husband and wife. As corny as it sounds, I really couldn't have asked for anything more :)
