My good friend, Kristin (far right), who was also my potluck roommate freshman year turned roommate for all 4 years was in town from Spain! We drove to Austin for the weekend and hung out with our other friend/college roomie, Runi, and shopped and ate to our hearts' content. It felt so good being back in our old 'hood together again...
Runi introduced me to the cutest little shop that reminded me a lot of Japan...
I've been on a green juice kick lately so we found a local place where I ordered a broccoli, spinach, and banana smoothie. It was so delicious!
Shopping for clothes on South Congress...so very Austin:) Here I am trying on a pair of faux leather shorts and looking like I was ready to go out clubbing afterwards haha. Can you believe I actually bought them??? Oh boy...
Seriously, the best brussels sprouts I've ever eaten (from one of my favorite restaurants too). Maybe the best thing I've eaten so far this year and I don't even like brussels sprouts.
So happy I got to see this girl and catch up, even if it was only for a few days. Living on different continents can be challenging when it comes to keeping in touch and I miss her all the time...but I'm very thankful she's only a Skype chat away, pending time zone differences:) Love ya! xx

chris & kathy's wedding
A few silly photo booth pics from our friends Chris and Kathy's wedding this past weekend. It took place at a lovely art museum and with all of her creative handmade touches (um, check out that photo booth backdrop), their wedding was seriously the cutest ever. Congrats to the happy couple!

weekend snapshots
Made a little trip down to Austin last weekend (3rd time in 2 weeks!)...so we could take my parents to see Les Misérables. Speaking of, have you seen the new Les Mis movie trailer?! Omigosh, I got goosebumps watching it...
My new food obsession is at a place called Hopdoddy - their turkey burger is to die for. I'm almost thankful that it's only in Austin and not Fort Worth or I'd probably gain 20 pounds...though that turkey burger may be worth it.

weekend snapshots
A few iPhone photos from the past couple of days...highlights include:
*Hanging out with our friends Bobby and Eurjean (in town for a wedding)...so of course tex-mex and margaritas were in order.
*Celebrating Kyle's birthday with our favorite key lime pie.
*A whirlwind trip to Austin for Mother's Day...and to see friends!
*Getting to eat not one, but TWO cowboy tacos from here.
Best. tacos. ever.

family portrait
A few months ago, we did a little family portrait session with Nessa, the most amazing photographer ever (she also shot our wedding photos). We strolled around one of our favorite spots in downtown Austin - South Congress - just the two of us + the pups. And even though I still miss Hallie like crazy, it makes me smile when I think back to this perfect day.
P.S. Hallie and Pancho both got bacon flavored sno cones after our shoot...so I'm pretty sure they thought it was perfect too:)

design*sponge book signing
This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending a crafting/book signing celebration bash for one of my all-time blogger idols, Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge. It was an incredible treat to meet her (yes, she is as adorable and bubbly in person as she is on her blog) and mingle with other bloggers and fans. I highly recommend her book too!
*UPDATE: Our photo made it onto the Design*Sponge website (scroll down to Austin), woohoo!

hello austin
A quick trip to Austin last week meant plenty of good eats and sisterly bonding time...also got to meet up with my friend, Hillary, for some tasty cinnamon rolls (roll not pictured here). I'm starting to think I take way too many photos of what I eat, but I can't help myself!

bob schneider concert
Last week, I had the great privilege to attend an Austin City Limit's taping with my friend Sarah...featuring one of my all-time favorite local artists, Bob Schneider. It's been 10 years since Bob was last on the show, and as expected he was nothing short of amazing. The two of us were pretty well-behaved during the entire concert - with the exception of us belting out all the lyrics to '40 dogs' (quite loudly!) as well as busting out our dance moves during 'Bombananza'. But probably the best part of the night was getting to meet his parents at the end of the show, both of whom were adorable (his dad wore crocs hee hee:).
P.S. The taping will air sometime in October on PBS!

bob video
I've been a huge fan of Bob Schneider ever since high school, so it made me super happy to see that his latest music video, '40 dogs' was filmed right here in Austin! Any Austinite will tell you that the Hey Cupcake trailer, Hotel St. Cecilia, Congress bridge and the dog parks at Auditorium Shores are some of the best places to visit in the city. Gosh, how I love this town!
(Thanks to my sis for sending me the video)

gourdoughs donuts
Doesn't this look amazing?! It's a fried donut. With cream cheese icing. Topped with fresh strawberries. I actually had a chance to try Gourdough's here in Austin earlier this week...and while I tried a different donut (chocolate frosting with grilled strawberries), this one is definitely on my must-try list for next time.
Oh, and there's one with bacon.

chocolate croissant

I don't know about you, but I could really use a super buttery, flakey, gooey chocolate croissant this morning...what a whirlwind of a weekend. Promise I'll be back to my blogging self tomorrow...Happy Monday!
