girl friends

Happy Monday! Kate (from For Me, For You) wrote a little blog post a week or two ago that really resonated with me...I too have always thought it was weird that I've never had a group of girl friends that I hung out all at once with (à la Sex and the City). Turns out, I'm a serial "best friender"...

"...wherever I move or whatever phase of my life I enter I end up making a really good friend that I do most things with, or have a few different people that I do specific things with."

Made me feel better I have to say. So for any of you serial best friends out there...you are not alone!

lately...

happy 2012

I can't believe another year has flown by...it's definitely been a challenging one for me to say the least and I am both happy and sad to see it come to a close. Kyle and I celebrated NYE in Austin by going out to dinner (you can see the restaurant in the background even though it wasn't intentional...lucky shot!), followed by champagne and crazy party hats with friends.

two things

Lately, I haven't been able to leave the house without wearing these two things: 1) bright red-orangey lipstick 2) my turquoise patina bracelet.

sore throat

Leave it to me to get sick in the middle of summer...never fails. I predict lots of naps and movie watching (or perhaps Project Runway?!) on the couch the next few days. Hope your weekend is much much better! :)

new shoes

My favorite pair of shoes right now...I call them my old granny shoes. And only $35 at Zara!

it's official...

Kyle and I booked our trip to Iceland! We will be going at the end of May through early June, and I cannot wait to see all of the amazing places that I have admired for so long. Despite the weather being around 50F degrees during that time of year, I'm using this trip as an excuse to buy a new swimsuit...since we'll also be taking advantage of the many hot springs Iceland has to offer! Anthropologie has a pretty great selection right now, the above being my favorites. I'm thinking the middle one...which one do you like?

my new loves

The two most recent additions to my closet that I am so ridiculously in love with: 1) vintage Balenciaga bag from ebay 2) gold repettos from my beloved (for xmas). Love.

new year goals

I know I am a few days late posting my resolutions for the New Year, but I figured better late than never right? Not to mention if I announce them to the whole world, there's probably a better chance that I will hold myself accountable so here goes:

1. Be more active, whether it's more walks in the park or taking a class (I've learned early on that I am not a "gym person").
2. Make new friends, especially since now that I am in a new city...I need new friends to explore it with!
3. Shop for things that I will absolutely love forever and ever...instead of just for something new to wear/have. This has always been a constant struggle for me but I think I am getting better.
4. Blog for the right reasons. I'm approaching my 2 year mark (hard to believe!) from when I first started this blog and I know that as I continue to grow and evolve, so does my blog. While I am so thankful for everyone who takes the time to stop by, ultimately I started this blog for me. I think I lost sight of that (especially towards the end of last year) but no more! 2011 will be about quality, not quantity, and I hope to make it more personal as I continue to share bits of my life with my readers. I really do appreciate all of you!!!
(5.) If time, learn to speak French*.

*This is actually my big "Before I turn 30" goal that I set for myself when I was in my early 20s...so I still have a few more years;)

hello kitty party

A few days before the wedding (and in lieu of the typical "bachelorette party" so that I didn't die from absolute embarrassment), my super sweet and insanely gorgeous girlfriends threw me a Hello Kitty themed celebration dinner at my favorite restaurant.

And yes, I almost died from all that cuteness.

The talk of the party had to be the adorable Hello Kitty cake pops, made by my oh-so-talented friend, kathyphantastic. Did you notice she even included my blog in her display? Yeah, she's pretty fantastic.

We ate, we drank and then we ate some more. The waiter even wrote me the sweetest little note on my leftovers - it made me melt and feel all giddy inside. We had a wonderful time...I am so thankful for these girls, I love them so much!

weekend snapshots

Recovering from jetlag is awful...but at least I got to hang out at home with my honey. We did nothing but eat and decorate our house the last couple of days and I couldn't be happier (though the 3 trips to Target in 3 days probably could have been avoided). I definitely recommend saving a few extra days at the end of any vacation to just "relax"...you won't regret it!

hello again!

So sorry for the long absence...I had wanted to write one last post before the wedding craziness happened but it is true what they say...the whole thing goes by so fast! Before I knew it I was on the plane to Greece for our honeymoon! I have so many photos to share and will also be posting about my favorite parts of the wedding soon so please check back.

one more month!

Wow, I can't believe that in exactly one month, I will be getting married!!! It is such a surreal feeling...and in the moment I don't want to jump off a cliff from all of the wedding planning stress (just yet). Speaking of surreal, I was going through old photos with Kyle's mom the other day and we found this one from their wedding day:

Isn't it adorable? Kyle's mom looks so beautiful and I love his dad's bowtie...you can really see the family resemblance to Kyle too, don't you think? :)

central market

Have I told you how obsessed I am with Central Market? So much that I drag Kyle there every time I'm visiting him in Fort Worth (hello, avocado+tomato+artichoke spread sandwich!)...and while I do also love my Whole Foods, something's got to be said for being able to buy the really bad-for-you, really orangey but super delicious Kraft mac 'n cheese...along with the organic stuff too. I'm just sayin'.

Any fun plans for the weekend? I'm going up to Fort Worth again to see my boy and to look at paint swatches...for our new HOUSE that we just bought (we close at the end of this month so cross your fingers for us)! Hooray for the weekend! Kyle and I are taking a mini vacation to LA for a few days...this is our first time visiting so we can't wait to soak up the sun, see a few friends and eat some of the good food that we always hear about! See you next week!
