nursery ideas

Right now, I'm in the planning stages of decorating our baby girl's nursery...and there's so much to think about! Since we live in a two bedroom house, we'll be keeping our spare bed, so the room will need to be both a guest room and a baby's room. In thinking about the environment I want to create (since I'm guessing I will be spending a lot of my time in there once the baby arrives), I'd like for it to be calming, airy and bright...filled with white/gray/neutrals and little bits of color here and there. This way, it will be easy to change out certain pieces if I get bored or let's say, if/when baby #2 comes along later ;)

I'll be sure to post a few photos once it's finished, so stay tuned!

lovely things...

A few things that I wouldn't mind sprucing up my office with lately...because I work from home, I spend most of my day in the same room. So I'm always on the lookout for small personal touches I can add, that will get me excited when I go into my office each morning. Not to mention they help make me less crabby on nights when I have to work late;)

blue fireplace

I think I may have been Swedish in my past life...because I am constantly drawn to their simple, modern design aesthetic. This house is so beautiful and calming...what I would give for a light blue fireplace like that one!

ikea 2012

I'm not afraid to say it - I love Ikea. I've never understood why there are so many Ikea haters out there...all I know is I'd be more than willing to move into any one of their stores tomorrow (provided the toliets/sinks worked) and live there happily ever after.

Also loving their new PS 2012 collection, scheduled to arrive in the US in August...am sooo getting that little red chair and that wooden chest of drawers (not that we are in the market for a chest of drawers but why not???)...

paper lantern

These paper lanterns took my breath away...I'm still in awe that the one directly above is made of plastic bags...

dog bed

Now that we've evolved into a two dog family, I've been on the hunt for comfy dog beds that mesh well with the rest of our home. Is it just me or are 99% of dog beds absolutely hideous? Found these after doing a quick search on Apartment Therapy...love the neutral colors and the heart-shaped shrimp pillow especially.

Now if only a certain puppy would hurry up with his potty training...

house numbers

If our house didn't already have a sign, I'd totally have to buy these house numbers from Heath Ceramics...they are so timeless! Still saving up for this teapot though...

animal shakers

I can't get enough of these gorgeous animal salt & pepper shakers by Waylanded Gregory. Made of glazed ceramic and handpainted, these would definitely stand out on any tabletop!

Brook&Lyn home

I'm a little obsessed with Mimi Jung's (of Brook&Lyn) beautiful Brooklyn home. It's the perfect mix of vintage and modern, but still cozy...I love how she made a custom drum tabletop out of geodes. Oh, and those string curtains are to die for.

rainbow chair

Loving these colorful deck chairs from Gallant & Jones...so far, I haven't had much luck in my search for outdoor furniture that's both cute and functional. I need to find something quick though, before this seemingly perfect weather (sunny + 70F) is replaced by the hot and sticky-ness that makes up our Texas summers!

etsy finds

If you haven't guessed by now, I am infatuated with all things Etsy. It's the one place you can find almost anything and the best part is, most of it is handmade. I also love the variety of vintage finds it has to offer. Here are a few favorites that are currently on my wish list:

A gorgeous, distressed leather tote - perfect for weekend adventures!

A colorful locket to hold your loved ones close to your heart.

A vintage card catalog to store my various knick knacks and treasures.

A sweet little bird print, because you can never have enough pretty art.

A charming little ship porthole mirror to add to my ever-growing mirror collection (yes I'm obsessed!).

The tiniest, most gorgeous ring ever.

Jewel-like faceted wooden candle holders, the perfect mix of modern and glam.

Kraft heart stickers, just because.
