happy weekend

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have fun things planned...if the weather is nice, I'm hoping to visit the Fort Worth Zoo finally and do a little shopping for our upcoming Iceland trip (hiking boots, anyone?).

As for the royal wedding, wasn't it so lovely? I'm not embarrassed to say that I bought into all the hype and watched countless TV specials/documentaries leading up until the big day. I'm kind of sad it's all over but at least Kyle can stop rolling his eyes at me...I'm pretty sure the first thing I said (more like shouted) when I woke up this morning was "Kate's a princess now!!!" :)

See you next week!

Not to be too picky, but Catherine is not officially a Princess. With her marriage to Prince William she is now the Duchess of Cambridge. She cannot be a princess because she is a commoner like Sarah Ferguson, who became the Duchess of York when she married Prince Andrew, who is also the Duke of York as William is the Duke of Cambridge.

Camilla Parker-Bowles was a commoner and given the title Duchess of Cornwall when she married Prince Charles, who is the Duke of Cornwall. The Duchy is actually the principal source of income for Prince Charles.

Princess Diana was Lady Diana Spencer before she married so as she was not a commoner she was indeed given the title of Princess Diana. Titles are serious in the British Monarchy and are commonly maligned abroad without a thought.

I did not see the wedding but the photos of the event are lovely.

“Princess” is more fun an anachronism. And, as is often the case with such silliness, fun is the prince…ipal virtue.

I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone by my comment...I'm just happy she found her prince;)
