out on vacation

Whew, this week blew by fast! I still have a ton of things to do before we leave for Iceland tomorrow morning (like trying to figure out how to stuff a pair of giant waterproof boots in my tiny suitcase), but we couldn't be more excited. I'm also happy to see a sunny day in the weather forecast...supposedly that is pretty rare for Iceland:)

Have a wonderful week and I'll be back soon (and posting more regularly too)...

Um, are these instant comfort pocket boxes not the cutest things ever? Talk about an instant mood booster...genius!

a day at the zoo

I don't think you can ever be too old for the zoo...at least not for Kyle and I, judging by how much fun we had at the Fort Worth Zoo a few weeks ago! We saw so many amazing animals from all over...and no offense to the Dallasites out there, but it was infintely better than the Dallas Zoo (mainly because all of the animals had at least one other friend to keep them company). The MOLA (Museum of Living Art) was pretty amazing too and we certainly had fun playing around with the aquarium setting on my camera while we were there (as seen above from our creepy red faces). If you ever get a chance to visit, I highly recommend it!

turband how-to

If you've ever wondered just how exactly to tie a turband, I found this video to be extremely informative.

the burning house

Here's an interesting thought - what would you absolutely have to take with you if your house was burning down? The Burning House showcases people's responses through a single photo. Kind of fun to see the various random items in each one...I'd definitely lug my Le Creuset pot with me too, through flames and all!

P.S. I love how they included their kitties in the 2nd photo:)

Love that you can wear this bag in so many different ways...and the aztec printed leather looks amazing!

weekend snapshots

Omigosh, I don't know about you but we had the most A-M-A-Z-I-N-G weather here over the weekend. The perfectly-sunny-but-still-cool-and-breezy kind that drives you crazy if you're not outside the entire time (or at the very least, have the windows open). So strange, considering it's already May and this is Texas. Kyle and I went on countless walks and even ventured out to the Botanical Gardens for the first time...we are slowly but surely exploring our town (and it's only taken us a little over a year to do it)! More garden photos to come soon...

minoux jewelry

Such a pretty, organic necklace that you know would just go with everything...and I love that it comes in two different lengths. Now I just need to decide, black or turquoise?

barrettes

Kind of obsessed with hair barrettes right now...it's taking all of my willpower not to chop my hair blunt short (shoulder-length) and abuse it to death with a flat iron...

weekend snapshots

Had a lovely weekend in Austin, celebrating both Mothers' Day and Kyle's birthday with family and friends. So much food but it was so worth it. *Someone* also got a pair of those crazy split toe socks, which personally I find really creepy. Doesn't it make his feet look like the mascot from Hamburger Helper?! I think so...

happy birthday, kyle!

Happy birthday to my handsome husband -- I can't wait to celebrate tonight with some champagne and coconut cupcakes (his favorite)!

Have a happy Tuesday, friends!

paper flowers

I love the idea of having a papered flower bouquet for a wedding...the best part being you can keep them long after the wedding is over. These are made from tissue paper, crepe paper and card stock!

happy mothers' day!

I know I sound biased, but Kyle and I really do have the best moms in the whole world.
Thanks for being such amazing women...we love you!

duck pond

Happy Friday! A few days ago, Kyle and I stumbled upon the cutest duck pond ever. There were so many different kinds, in all shapes and sizes. Our favorite duck was a brown and white one that honked at us the entire time. While we didn't have anything to feed them at first, we returned after a quick meal at Chuy's and gave them our leftover tortillas...which they seemed to really enjoy.

Check out my short little video to see:)

weekend snapshots

Took a few days to recover from a super jam-packed weekend...more like I was too lazy to upload photos to my computer and now it's almost the weekend again, ha. Kyle and I threw our first "official" dinner party at the house with our lovely next-door neighbors, complete with a cheese plate (La Tur = amazing) and my very first attempt at paella (a success!). We even managed to make it to the zoo, despite a few clouds and a bit of rain...photos to come in a later post. And at the risk of sounding like a corny, incredibly gushy wife...I am SO proud of my husband and his little garden that he grew for us! Kyle started out with only seed packets and since then, has already harvested two yellow squashes and a ginormous zucchini...all of which we promptly cooked and devoured. I'm still so shocked at how naturally sweet they tasted - no wonder people buy organic. Ended the weekend with some tasty BBQ and a cold front...you have no idea how excited I was to wear a knit hat in May!
