happy weekend

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have fun things planned...if the weather is nice, I'm hoping to visit the Fort Worth Zoo finally and do a little shopping for our upcoming Iceland trip (hiking boots, anyone?).

As for the royal wedding, wasn't it so lovely? I'm not embarrassed to say that I bought into all the hype and watched countless TV specials/documentaries leading up until the big day. I'm kind of sad it's all over but at least Kyle can stop rolling his eyes at me...I'm pretty sure the first thing I said (more like shouted) when I woke up this morning was "Kate's a princess now!!!" :)

See you next week!

backward cardigan

I'm pretty sure people would think I was crazy if I stepped outside my house wearing a cardigan backward, but on her it looks lovely...

closet visit film

Having been a favorite of Jeana Sohn's Closet Visit series for some time now, I was delighted to see her move into the film space! Her aesthetic is so pretty and fresh...you can't help but fall in love with each person simply from her photos. It also makes me really want to invest in some long-term fashion pieces for my own closet...

weekend snapshots

We spent Easter weekend in Graham...surrounded by adorable babies and lots of yummy food, including a bunny cake! It's always so nice to be able to spend time with family, especially since I haven't seen some of them since our wedding last year. Came back home fully rested and on a semi-permanent sugar high...thanks to lots of chocolate eggs!

our first squash!

Last week, we picked, cooked and ate our first squash from our garden! It was small, but beautiful, and it was the sweetest squash I've ever eaten (no joke). We were like two kids on Christmas morning...haha, and I have Kyle to thank as he did all of the work himself. He's such a talented little farmer!:)

beaded necklace

Lately, I've been on a jewelry kick which is funny, considering I've never been a big fan of jewelry before. Yes, I'll wear the occasional necklace or pair of earrings but on most days I don't wear anything except for my rings. I tend to gravitate towards simple styles but I'm loving all of the colorful accessories that I've been noticing in stores lately. These necklaces have just enough pop of color without being too noticeable, and would look beautiful worn by itself or layered I think.

invisible man

Wow, this is just incredible...Chinese artist, Liu Bolin, covers himself in paint in order to blend in with his surroundings. Apparently it can take up to 10 hours to prepare for a single shot! It took me a half a second longer to find him in the middle shot above haha, how crazy is that?

happy monday

Nonstop craziness all last week in Austin desperately called for pancakes for dinner last night. I recently stumbled upon this recipe and it was just perfect. It also helps that I somehow always have leftover sour cream in the fridge...

drive-in movie

Last Friday, Kyle and I packed up the cone-dog and went to our first drive-in movie theater ever. While the movie itself wasn't very good, it felt wonderful to watch it with the windows down, cool breeze blowing and us cozied up in the backseat. Plus, I love anything that involves nachos! We tried to stay for the double feature, since it was a film we actually wanted to see...but we were so sleepy by the end that we just drove back home and called it a night. Maybe next time...

P.S. I love how my camera focused in on Hallie and made us blurry in the background by comparison:)

it's official...

Kyle and I booked our trip to Iceland! We will be going at the end of May through early June, and I cannot wait to see all of the amazing places that I have admired for so long. Despite the weather being around 50F degrees during that time of year, I'm using this trip as an excuse to buy a new swimsuit...since we'll also be taking advantage of the many hot springs Iceland has to offer! Anthropologie has a pretty great selection right now, the above being my favorites. I'm thinking the middle one...which one do you like?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

rachel castle

Cheery colorful artwork by Rachel Castle...I'm a sucker for different textures and these are embroidered using fabrics such as felt, linen and wool. I think they would pop on any wall. Also featured in this post!

collar necklace

At first glance, this collar necklace looks like it's part of the shirt - I love that it's sparkly yet still subtle in its own way.

weekend snapshots

Overall, a delightful weekend full of little things that make me happy: fresh strawberries, new makeup...including the most perfect shade of baby pink lip balm (as worn above), homemade potato pizza, my first pair of espadrilles(!) and a little taco food trailer that reminded me of Austin. But the best part? A smiley cone-dog that's back to her old self - sitting at my feet and wishing more than anything that I'd drop my fork...or whatever was on it.

ace hotel

I must have vacation on the brain because lately, I've been obsessively researching all the places we could go next. I desperately want to visit Palm Springs and stay at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club...talk about laid back, retro mid-century goodness. I've heard the people and the culture there are just fantastic too.

Then there's always Iceland...
