weekend snapshots

Started the weekend off by going on a quick road trip to see Kyle's parents in Graham, TX. We were greeted by the usual friendly faces and explored around, including a few antique stores downtown. A particular shop that showcased a set of iron bars actually used to be the county jail, oddly enough. I think I must be also craving a visit to the zoo or something, because I was so desperate to get a photo of a few buffalo that Kyle's dad even pulled over on the side of the road so that I could snap one. Call me animal obsessed, maybe.

We finally got to try out the amazing telescope my sister bought us for Christmas too...it really is incredible how much of the sky you can see once you are far enough away from the city. I was so excited to see Jupiter and its 4 Galilean moons for the first time ever! Thanks to my little astronomer...

my new loves

The two most recent additions to my closet that I am so ridiculously in love with: 1) vintage Balenciaga bag from ebay 2) gold repettos from my beloved (for xmas). Love.

leather satchel

I may be a little late jumping on the satchel bandwagon but I'm having a hard time resisting...especially if they already have the vintage, worn-in look already.

P.S. Cute leather backpack too!

dreaming of wallpaper

Maybe it's the ho-hum weather or maybe it's because I've been flipping through too many design magazines, but lately I have been dreaming of pretty wallpaper...

baby sweater

Is that not the cutest little sweater ever? I'm always so impressed with Jenny's knitting abilities...she also knits socks, scarves and sews clothing for her online shop. Oh and her blog is just so darn cute too!

dinner last night

My second attempt at quiche was a success (don't even ask me how the first attempt went, it still makes me sad)! I used this recipe but added some leftover honeybaked ham from Christmas. While I love eggs, I don't really like the mushy texture it brings in quiche especially right out of the oven, so this one was perfect because it was mostly made of spinach. Served with a quick salad and a splash of basil vinaigrette. Yum.

Sigh. Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. has done it again with this year's Valentine Day cards. Aren't they just the cutest?

mini pies

(Top: Blackberry; Bottom: Pumpkin)

Apparently, mini pies are the new cupcake...and I'm not surprised. Everything is cuter in "mini" form. Now if only there was such a thing as a mini cupcake (or a mini-mini cake)...then maybe it would have a chance to steal back its crown!

fashion film

One of my favorite fashion bloggers, Scott Schuman from The Sartorialist, was just featured in a short documentary film. I love that he sometimes finds inspiration in the strangest places (ie. duct tape boots).

Happy Friday!

new year goals

I know I am a few days late posting my resolutions for the New Year, but I figured better late than never right? Not to mention if I announce them to the whole world, there's probably a better chance that I will hold myself accountable so here goes:

1. Be more active, whether it's more walks in the park or taking a class (I've learned early on that I am not a "gym person").
2. Make new friends, especially since now that I am in a new city...I need new friends to explore it with!
3. Shop for things that I will absolutely love forever and ever...instead of just for something new to wear/have. This has always been a constant struggle for me but I think I am getting better.
4. Blog for the right reasons. I'm approaching my 2 year mark (hard to believe!) from when I first started this blog and I know that as I continue to grow and evolve, so does my blog. While I am so thankful for everyone who takes the time to stop by, ultimately I started this blog for me. I think I lost sight of that (especially towards the end of last year) but no more! 2011 will be about quality, not quantity, and I hope to make it more personal as I continue to share bits of my life with my readers. I really do appreciate all of you!!!
(5.) If time, learn to speak French*.

*This is actually my big "Before I turn 30" goal that I set for myself when I was in my early 20s...so I still have a few more years;)

knee patch tights

Loving these Hansel from Basel 'knee patch' tights...they look so warm and cozy and perfect for the Texas weather right now. I guess I'm drawn to anything with patches...

P.S. These are pretty wild too...but I like 'em!

holiday snapshots (part 2)

It's such a surreal feeling after seeing all of your loved ones during the holiday mad rush, to almost feel relieved after returning home. I never think I'll miss our house when we leave it, but I always do. We spent a few mellow days doing what we usually do...long walks with Hallie, cooking and staying in. Our New Years plans were foiled by a sick dog (cleaning up throw up is always a downer), so we spent the night drinking mini champagne bottles and watching movies from our couch. It was the perfect ending to a perfect year.

holiday snapshots (part 1)

Hello! It feels so good to be blogging again, especially after a much needed break. I think I've found some new inspiration to start writing regularly again...so bear with me as I make some changes to the blog this year. I'm really excited for 2011!

Our holiday break was definitely a busy one - Kyle and I spent time with both families, ate a ton of good food, hung out with old friends and watched a lot of movies (I highly recommend The Fighter!). I think it felt crazier this year because it was the first time I had to travel to Austin to see everyone, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. We even got to go to a close friend's baby shower...hard to believe our friends are already having babies! Time flies, like they say...
