antique shopping

Last week, my sister came to visit and we explored a nearby antique shop. I love to peruse the different rooms filled with pretty much anything imaginable…though it does take some time (and usually several trips!) before finding a treasure worthy enough to bring home. We got a laugh when Megan discovered what seemed like the first pair of “3D glasses” ever invented and I found a poor stuffed dog with a missing ear. In the end, I didn’t find anything I just had to have but I’m sure I’ll be back.

new etsy shop!

I’m so excited to tell you about my good friend/stylist/fellow blogger, Kathy, who just recently opened her first Etsy shop! Kathy is one of the most creative people I know and it was only a matter of time before she shared her cuteness with the world. Her shop offers handmade paper banners, pennants and customizable porcelain plates for all occasions. I have to admit, her "yeah baby" banner became an instant favorite of mine (most likely due to the recent "baby fever" that's been going around in my social circles). Check out her shop here.

weekend snapshots

Happy Monday! So we didn’t end up going to the zoo, mainly because of all the rain and tornado warnings happening…so instead we did a little Halloween shopping and watched the Facebook movie (2 thumbs up!). But mostly, I loved just being able to curl up on the couch and watch the rain outside our window. Also:

*Pumpkin bagel with cream cheese! Oh how I love this time of year when everything is pumpkin-flavored…
*Shopping for Halloween decorations is a lot harder than I thought. We ended up buying only candy (which we proceeded to eat once we got home).
*A new furry friend for our baby-expecting friends!
*A psychadelic cow in front of a psychadelic pizza joint (the baked potato pie was interesting to say the least).

Yay for Friday! Do you have any fun plans this weekend? I'm hoping to check out the Fort Worth Zoo tomorrow as I've heard it's one of the best in Texas. Speaking of animals, how great are these oversized balloon animal installations? Totally random but they made me smile...have a good one!

tattoos

Lately, I've been thinking about getting a tattoo. As it would be my first one, I love the idea of something subtle and slightly hidden. I've heard you are supposed to decide on what you want and wait 6 months - and if you still like it then you can get the tattoo. Now I just need to decide on one...any ideas?

Last weekend, I made a quick trip to Austin for a coworker's baby shower. It was so cute but I forgot to bring my camera unfortunately. I think I also managed to set a record for the amount of food and shopping I was able to fit into a 3 day period...whew! Oh, how I've missed you Austin.

Last weekend, Kyle and I went to Dallas to visit my sister and go to the Texas State Fair. We were so excited to ride a train (public transportation is rare down here), see Big Tex, eat fried Oreos (they will change your life) and try an alligator kebab (tastes like fish+chicken). Full of fried food in our bellies, we went home feeling hot, tired but happy.

Oh, and someone got a little too close to the camera...I think she looks like a little polar bear!

The J.Crew Fall lookbook is so breathtaking...I am in love with all of the different layers and textures. And that hot pink lipstick is growing on me too!

Wow...this is exactly what I would have imagined the Etsy headquarters to look like...so magical! I miss working in a fun and creative place sometimes. And how can I get my hands on one of those crazy lamps?!

jewel tape

Insanely gorgeous jewel tape...each ring image is based on an actual ring with stones in a variety of colors. I'd love to use some to wrap gifts during the holidays (can you believe it's time to start shopping already?!).
