weekend snapshots

This past weekend, I surprised Kyle with tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game as his Christmas present. It was my first time going to an NFL game and the first time either of us saw the new stadium. We had such a great time being around so many screaming fans...but the best part was the giant pretzel! I love giant pretzels. Oh, and the cowboys won...

hair braid

I love how this girl braided her hair...it looks so beautiful and effortless. And just the right amount of "bed head"!

knitted dissections

Oddly enough, I find these knitted frog and rat dissections pretty fascinating...and much easier to stomach. I was never a fan of anatomy class...but these would look cute hung up on a wall or a bookshelf!

weekend snapshots

Hi friends! Hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. I spent mine hanging out at home, cooking a little, shopping a lot (online) for gifts and trying to stay warm since our heater broke. I did manage to visit my sister up in Dallas and we watched Black Swan...I would highly recommend it as the acting is impeccable, though just a warning - it is very intense (not to mention graphic). I also tried my first kumquat ever from Kyle's kumquat tree...and was pleasantly surprised. Who knew eating the rind could be so tasty?

I can't stop looking at these hand-dyed quilts...they look like beautiful works of art, don't you think so?

weekend snapshots

We got our tree! It was so exciting (and a little suspenseful) to walk through the entire lot of beautiful firs in all shapes and sizes...only to find the one that was absolutely perfect for us. We came home right away and started decorating because we couldn't wait - Kyle and I each chose an ornament last week and we are thinking of starting a tradition where we do this each year, in hopes of amassing an eclectic collection. Can you guess which one is mine? The rest of the weekend was spent eating lots of homemade soup and drinking cocoa (of course)...but we did get to meet up with some friends and try a nearby gelato shop. The hazelnut flavor was my favorite.
P.S. Everyone was right - the tree really does smell heavenly...

happy weekend
Happy weekend friends! Do you have anything fun and exciting planned? I'm sitting here eating my favorite breakfast in the world (banana peanut butter toast) and can hardly contain myself, because we are going to pick out our first real Christmas tree tomorrow! Growing up, my family always had an artificial tree...and while there is nothing wrong with that (gotta love the convenience of it all), I cannot wait to decorate our first real tree together. I hope it smells as good as everyone always says. See you next week!
P.S. If you're in the mood for a funny cat video, I'd recommend this one...hilarious.

Thought these vintage stamp inspired coasters were absolute genius...complete with pinking shears to finish the look! See the tutorial here.
