Saw this on Joanna's blog and just had to post it too...I am sure going to miss all of the heartfelt commercials. Here's to enjoying the last few days of the Winter Olympics! Have a great weekend!

texas snow
Guess who hated all the snow that fell yesterday in Austin?
I think it made her paws cold...she needs a pair of these dog booties.
The snow was still beautiful though, I wish it would stay a little longer.

hardback cover

For those of you who own a MacBook, check out this clever hardback laptop case...wouldn't it be so much fun to carry this around school or work? Love the worn leather look...

le mini sac

I am swooning over the new le mini sac by Clare Vivier...just the perfect size and just the right amount of "vintage" appeal. Comes in 3 colors: camel, red (*LOVE*) and black. I already have the la tropézienne in brown and I can promise you that this is the softest, most buttery-feeling leather bag I own. It's hard for me to stop touching it when I have it on my arm...

olympics weekend!

Since I have never really shown an interest in the Winter Olympics before, I am a little embarrassed to say that I've been totally sucked in this year! 3+ hours of TV every night this week has left me exhausted...all I want to do this weekend is get some much needed sleep and to also be somewhat productive. I do love seeing all that pretty snow up there though (seeing, not being in it). What are your plans?

happy 1st blog year!

Ta-da! Today marks the 1 year anniversary of this blog! I am both surprised and proud to have stayed with it for this long. Because I have a day job that isn't very creative, it makes me so happy to be able to write and share a little of myself with all of you through this outlet. It's hard to believe that this was my very first post. Well, technically this was (but it doesn't really count).
So for your amusement, I give you my top 10 favorite posts so far:
10) Sleepy Bulldog
9) L-O-V-E
8) We're Engaged!
7) Happy Hallie
6) Human Clock
5) Wolf & Pig
4) Typewriter Cake
3) The Photographic Dictionary
2) Things That Make Me Happy
1) Kid Chairs
(I don't know why, but that post always makes me smile...must be the pooh bear)
THANK YOU to all of my readers for making this first year so memorable, I couldn't have done it without you and I can't wait to see what's in store next!

pizza lunch

Had a wonderful Valentine's Day pizza lunch with my sweetie at House Pizzeria, a new favorite. We tried the Margherita Extra, the Subterranean (carmelized onion, fontina, mushrooms, roasted potatoes, basil), Potato & Goat Cheese and Sausage & Mushroom...and a glass of Guinness. Who knew potatoes on pizza would be so yummy? The secret is out...hope you and yours had a nice relaxing weekend :)
P.S. Check back tomorrow for my 1-year blog anniversary post!

cozy quilts

What is it about a hand-made quilt that makes it feel so much like home? I'd love to have one of Sally Campbells designs to help me stay warm...so far this week it's been in the 30Fs here and I can't hardly stand it. I don't know how you Northeasterners deal with it (I know, I'm a big wimp when it comes to cold weather).

Love this little illustration poster by Lena Corwin...it would look so sweet in a plain white frame from Ikea. Can you spot the mini Elvis? Too cute!

Wow, this girl's shoe collection is my absolute fantasy...could you imagine getting dressed each morning?! I don't think I could, I would just sit and stare at them all day...sigh.

iceland honeymoon

Kyle and I often talk about places we want to go for our honeymoon...do we want to visit a tropical beach somewhere in the Carribean? Or maybe stay at a quiet little bed & breakfast in Maine? I'm not very picky but lately we have been thinking about going to Iceland - seeing the colorful rooftops, the Blue Lagoon, the Northern Lights...not to mention almost 24 hours of sunlight in the summertime. It may still be a little too cold for my tastes, but I think it sounds so amazing...

pretty little french song
A pretty little French song for your Friday...
(warning: beware of the creepy guy in the background of this video)
wise words
I really enjoyed reading what Scott Schuman wrote on his fantastic blog, The Sartorialist, earlier this week so I thought I'd share (plus 30 Rock is one of my favorite shows!)...here's a little excerpt:
"A great scene of modern grace on '30 Rock' the other day:
Liz and Jack went out to dinner at a very chic restaurant. As they sat down at the table, Jack immediately moved the candle from the center of the setting to the side of the table. Liz looked at him kinda funny, not understanding why he did that but, not really caring either. Later, however, when Liz reached across the table to steal some of Jack's food (as she always does), she realized he moved the candle so her sleeve wouldn't catch fire when she reached across the table. Jack's manner and grace were so attuned to her as a friend, that he knew her moves before she did. That tiny gesture ended up becoming the pivotal moment of the episode and changed the course of their business relationship.
I'm telling you guys again, women notice the small stuff. They notice the gentleness/gentlemenliness more than if you use the right fork at dinner. I'm a very lucky man, Garance notices every little kindness I offer her, she doesn't miss a thing. Knowing that makes it so much more rewarding to do even more little things for her. I'll be honest, my biggest obsession in life right now is not better shoes, more suits or a bigger career but, to simply be a more graceful man for my graceful woman."
I think I've officially turned into a romantic sap this year in honor of Valentine's Day...

birdhouse room

How lovely is this child's bedroom? I never would have thought to use birdhouses for decorating inside a home, but I love how they add a quirky and colorful personality to the room. Of course, the mom was a display coordinator for Anthropologie so that probably explains it. I want to live there (bunk beds and all!).

macaron vs. macaroon

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend...I sure did. Had the pleasure of meeting up with my friend Kathy and two new blog friends, Aimee and Michelle, over pizza and macarons. So much fun to finally put a face with a name - oh the joys of online social media/networking hooray!
Over lunch, we talked about the differences between a macaron (french cookie made of flour+sugar+egg whites) and a macaroon (coconut-based cookie made of egg whites+sugar+shredded coconut). I told them about how a graphic designer incorporated this for a couple's wedding, as they had a macaron/macaroon miscommunication at the start of their relationship. Aren't these favor boxes so adorable? And the cutest part: they included one of each dessert inside for each guest! Check out the designer Erin Jang's blog here.
I look forward to meeting more of my blog & twitter friends in 2010. Happy Monday!
