happy friday + weekly favorites

Happy Friday! I know it was supposed to be a short week, but it sure felt like a long one. Last night, I had the best pomme frites with my friend Hillary from here (Sandra Bullock's restaurant!). And tomorrow I get to eat some more delicious fries here...yummmy. Oh how I love the french fry.

Also, here a few things that I didn't get a chance to post about this week:

- A little "French" dog! Made me smile...(Via fffound)

- For days when you feel '
blah' and just want to curl up in bed.

- Protect yourself from swine flu
(hee hee).

- This bird has got the moves!

- Twitter in real life...omigosh too funny
(Via A Cup of Jo).

Enjoy the weekend! :)

burlap buckets

Hope your Thursday is going well! Don't you think these burlap buckets from Three Potato Four would be perfect in a bookshelf or on a desk/side table? They're made out of recycled fair trade coffee sacks and are also lined with a soft cotton on the inside, perfect for holding all of your things! I love the rustic, unique feel they have...

kate nash: "the nicest thing"

What a lovely song by Kate Nash and an even lovelier animated video. It made me smile, but in a bittersweet way. What do you think?

summer sandals

I bought a pair of cute, tan leather heels this weekend from Anthropologie and wanted to show them to you...unfortunately it looks like they are no longer being offered on their website (they kind of look like these, but tan, smaller heel and no t-strap, not to mention half the price!). So instead I will point out some other styles that I also liked when I visited their store (but luckily restrained myself)...and best of all they are all on sale now hooray!

Illumination Sandals - I looove metallic shoes (any kind, you can ask my coworkers) but I have enough of them so I didn't buy these...still, the adorable cork footbead is just too cute, don't you think?!

Percussion T-Straps - I so wish I could have pulled these off but I'm not that daring...and you can't really see them but there are little red grommets at the back of the heel that I just loved (red & turquoise is such a lovely combination).

Winding Paths Sandals - Fiery red t-straps...oh they are so simple and versatile, but were way out of my price range, so I had to move on. So sad!

What about you? Have you found any good deals on shoes/sandals lately?

homemade oreos

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend...I know I did!

And omigosh, what I wouldn't give to have a couple of these homemade oreos and a glass of milk this morning...instead of my usual coffee. Find the genius recipe
here.

happy memorial day + weekly favorites

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Will you be doing anything fun? I'll be visiting my sister and Kyle in Dallas/Fort Worth, where I hope to relax and catch up on a movie or two. I really want to see this film...but will most likely end up seeing this or this (that is, if Kyle has any say in it)!

Also, here a few things that I didn't get a chance to post about this week:

- Awesome show, awesome
tote!

- Adorable cupcake
tags for parties, scrapbooking and more...and they're free! (Via Creature Comforts)

- Haha, the top 10 worst car
ads of all time (watch/cringe at your own risk)

- Pillowcases guaranteed to make you smile!

- Wouldn't it be amazing to eat at this
cafe in New Zealand? (Via doubletakes)

Have a good one! xoxo

pia jane bijkerk

Have you heard of Pia Jane Bijkerk? If not, I highly recommend you check out her blog - Pia is an incredibly talented stylist and an Australian...who lives on a darling little houseboat in Amsterdam! I am infinitely jealous but will live vicariously through her photographs for now...the boat is called le petit bateau. Can you imagine all of her adventures? See more pics of her adorable home here.

eye chart pillow

Love this...screen printed 3-D eye chart pillows that would certainly make you look twice! They also come with a pair of 3-D glasses...how's that for fun on a Friday night? Fuzzy, not fuzzy, fuzzy... :)

i love you more...

And...I'm back from my short break! Here is a cute website that asks the question: What do you use as a measuring stick for love? Mine would be "I love you more than peanut butter on toast" (oh how I love peanut butter...). Submit your own 'I love you' here.

Oh and haha to that Twilight reference in the 2nd row...and I'm not embarassed to admit that I just finished the 3rd book. See, it's not just for tweens!

goofy tuesday!

I'm in a goofy, non-blogging sort of mood so for today you get some silly photos of me & Kyle wearing fake mustaches. Don't we look ravishing? :) See you tomorrow!

happy 3 months!

This may be a little random, but tomorrow marks the 3 month anniversary of my blog! Just wanted to say thanks so much to all of my lovely blog readers - I have to admit, when I first started this I wasn't sure if I could keep it up. But having made so many new friends and hearing all of your feedback has really inspired me to continue. Thank you for all of your comments and nice words, they really do make my day everyday! xoxo

P.S. Have a wonderful weekend too...I've been craving pumpkin for some reason (I know, strange for summer) so I'll be making these ...can't wait and will let you know how they turn out!

(Photo by Alexis...isn't he just the cutest dog ever?! Hallie would never sit still for a photo like that)

good girl bad girl

Love these sultry photos of actress Ginnifer Goodwin in the June issue of W. I am a big big fan of the show, Big Love, so it's fun to see her show off her "bad girl" side for once! She pulls it off pretty well, don't you think? See the rest of Steven Klein's photos here.

love stamps!

Found out yesterday (as I was paying some bills) that I am still using old Nutcracker stamps from last xmas! Felt silly for using them but stamps are stamps...it did send me on a mission in search of some cute ones that I could use all year round. I've always been a fan of the "LOVE" stamp series so when I saw the Zazzle ones above, I fell in love! Check out other designs here. And while they are perfect for weddings, thank yous and birthdays...I wouldn't mind using them to pay my bills either :)

Adorable felt camera and phone cases by Hine - I'm such a sucker for bright colors! She also dabbles in stop motion too, watch her little video here.

park pictures

I really like these birds-eye-views of little parks in the city...by Korean photographer, Hosang Park (haha, and that's not even a pun!). The series is rightfully named 'A Square'...don't these landscapes look like little pieces of artwork? Makes me sad that there is no one playing in them though!

(Borrowed from doubletakes)

wooden spoons

Love these wooden spoons by Live Wire Farm - hand carved and sanded from timber trees in Vermont...they look perfect for stirring that stove pot of yummy tomato sauce!

custom portrait

Hope your Monday is going well so far...today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite etsy artists - the super talented (and not to mention super sweet!), Ashley G. Her simple and colorful pieces are so delightful to look at...it's almost as if there was something magical about each one of the characters she draws. Ashley also does custom portraits for individuals, couples (like the ones above) & families...dare I say perfect for an anniversary or birthday coming up? I can't think of a more creative/personalized gift for someone you love! See more examples here.

P.S. Can you guess who the couple in the 3rd portrait is?! :)

Happy Mother's Day weekend! Are you doing anything special for your mom? I'll be taking mine shopping and out to a nice dinner afterwards, I'm very excited! Also wanting to wish my sweetie a happy birthday - he's turning 26 on Sunday :)

And here a few things that I didn't get a chance to post about this week:

- Something lovely for mom to drink out of each morning

- A puppy that can whistle!

- What I wouldn't give to wake up in the morning and have this staring at me...too cute

- The most affordable "solitaire" engagement ring. ever. (and it's gigantic!)

- The cutest couple in the world...this made my heart swell (Thanks Kevin!)

school boy readers

What do you think about school boy reader glasses? I really like them on French blogger Louise Ebel (above), but I'm not sure what I feel about wearing glasses strictly for looks vs. vision. These ones are pretty affordable for me to want to try them out though...

short film by chanel

I am SO in love with the new Chanel N°5 short film, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Audrey Tautou. The act of missed encounters, a mysterious sleeper train, and the scenes of Istanbul...it's just all so romantic and oh-so Chanel!

Thanks to my wonderful friend Hillary for sharing!

color accents

In college, me and my 2 roommates (Kristin & Runi) rented an adorable little duplex house - where we had the sudden urge to paint 3 accent walls of our living room in 3 different shades of blue (well, Kristin did most of the painting...I 'supervised'). Even today I still love the idea of using a bright color to really make a room "pop"...how fabulous is this apartment on the Upper East Side? So bright and cheery!

pop-art paintings

Christine & Justin are 2 artists out of NYC who launched a website once upon a time called Wants for Sale. Here they featured paintings of things they wanted and sold them for the exact cost of the real item (i.e. buffalo wings = $12.70 or a trip to Vegas = $488.50!). They now have a sister site called Needs for Sale - where the paintings depict ways you can help support charities: $100 donation to a food bank, $100 for a Locks of Love wig or $150 to a coat drive. Pretty cool concept, don't you think?
